Five Artists
Creating Art
Beyond the Expected
The Uncommon Art Collective was formed in August 2025.
Through collaborative curation, the whole that results is greater
than the sum of the parts - truly beyond the expected!
Meet the Artists
Each artist maintains her own studio practice but the group encourage, discuss, critique and exhibit together. The five start with an idea in common, then work individually toward both abstracted and reference-based images.
Sheila Rowe
Sheila Rowe’s abstract and loose representational paintings

‘Being an artist isn’t about arriving at a formula for success.
It is about landing on one rock in the stream and then stepping to the next.
It is always an adventure.’
Christiane Haberl
Christiane is based in Calgary, Alberta. Deeply inspired by nature, her intent is to capture the essence of a landscape, linking it to a felt sense of space, a concept or narrative inviting the viewer to discover a sense of wonder.
Dixie Baum
Dixie Baum is an Alberta painter who seeks to explore and express deeper meaning in the human experience. Dixie frequently employs non-representational elements to depict internal landscapes, ideas, and dynamics. Her inspiration is rooted in spiritual connection and inherent beauty in nature.
